Initiatives to Reduce Environmental Impacts (Scope 1)

Adoption of trucks with advanced environmental performance

The SENKO Group is adopting trucks with advanced environmental performance, including hybrid (HV), natural gas (NGV), and electric (EV) vehicles with lower CO₂ and NOx emissions than diesel trucks.

We are taking advantage of the environmental benefits of such vehicles, which can reduce CO₂ emissions by 65% compared to conventional light delivery vans and 25% or more compared to diesel vehicles, to meet customers’ desire for low-carbon shipping.

Adoption of large, natural gas-powered trucks

We are using large trucks powered by natural gas, which generate fewer CO₂ and NOx emissions, primarily in urban areas to ship apparel, pharmaceuticals, and food products.

The Mie Branch of SENKO Co., Ltd., is using large, natural gas-powered trucks that can accommodate two JR containers to give shape to Earth-friendly logistics with the dual advantages of a modal shift and reduced emission gases. Customer have praised the efforts.

In addition, Hokkaido Senko Co., Ltd., is participating in an LNG truck demonstration project led by the Ministry of the Environment and working to help reduce the environmental footprint of its operations in the region.
